This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Mr. Prince Bodie, who was born in Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas on December 30th. 1956 and passed away on June 18, 2009 at the age of 53.
Mr. Bodie was the manager of the Treasure Cay Resort and Marina Coca Bar Resturant. He was employed for 33 year.
We will remember him forever.
A man of noble character, priceless treasure, rich in family values, integrity demonstrated, nice in every way, courageous in his dreams and enthusiastic in nature.
A gift given to the late Eustace Bodie & Melva Walker on December 30th, 1956.
At the age of five Prince grace the home of Eustace & Nethilee Bodie his foster mother. He attended the Gambier All Age School in Nassau, New Providence where he was daily escorted to school by his grandmother Evelyn Bodie.
In 1969, Prince was enrolled in Catholic High School in Freeport, Grand Bahama where he initially lived with his mother, Melva Walker. In 1972, Prince took up residence with Jerry & Beryl Lowe to complete his high school education.
At Catholic High School, he was an outstanding athlete in track & field and basketball. He was known for his love for basketball.
Prince was called "PB" by family & friends alike, he was known for his generosity, smile and clownish attitude.
CAREER PATH Upon completing high school, Prince was hired as a bus boy at Treasure Cay Beach Hotel on July 23rd, 1976. Prince was known always as a diligent, pleasant and helpful employee.
With his pleasant personality, hospitable attitude and commitment to service he met and touched the lives of so many. During his tenure at Treasure Cay Beach Hotel, he was promoted firstly to a waiter, secondly to Dining Room Captain subsequently to Maitre. For a period of time, Prince was deployed at the Treasure Cay Marina as a Dock Master. In 1988 he was promoted to Restaurant Manager, the position he held until his demise.
DREAMS & ASPIRATIONS Prince loved his family and he would do anything to help and support be it financial, moral or physical. He graciously and willingly took care of his foster mother whom he affectionately called “Auntie” there was always a call in the morning and either a call or visit in the evening.
Prince always inspired to own his own business, thus he inherit Bodie’s Car Rental from his father and had plan to open his restaurant by year end.
His dream was to see all of his children succeed thus he partnered with his oldest son, Omar Bodie to open a Sporting Lounge.
About four years ago, Prince began to experience some discomfort in his chest, after attending his physician locally, he sought further medical advice in Florida, where he was diagnosed with a heart condition and was being medically treated. This condition never hampered his spirit or his work ethic.
In March of this year, he traveled to Florida for his regular medical check up and the medical advice was in line with the condition.
LAST MOMENTS Thursday June 18th, 2009 was seemingly a regular day in the life of Prince, he went about his daily affairs as usual, however after leaving Mom’s house with Coral, and Coby, Prince began to experienced some difficulties which lead to him losing control of the vehicle. Upon the arrival of medical assistance, Prince was taken to Treasure Cay Medical Clinic and succumbed to his medical challenge.
From this life to eternity.
